چکیده

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this article is to discuss the potential issue of exposing patient information from digital images used in PowerPoint presentations. CONCLUSION Current methods for safeguarding patient information in PowerPoint presentations still contain the potential for risk. In radiology, many digital images used in PowerPoint contain hidden patient identification information. Although cautious use of cropping and masking techniques has been adequate for presentation, the hidden information is still available as part of the digital image and may pose Health Insurance Portability and Account-ability Act (HIPAA) risks. This article will discuss the origin of this issue and describe simple solutions for permanently removing patient information using built-in PowerPoint functions.

An Enhanced Median Filter for Removing Noise from MR Images

In this paper, a novel decision based median (DBM) filter for enhancing MR images has been proposed. The method is based on eliminating impulse noise from MR images. A median-based method to remove impulse noise from digital MR images has been developed. Each pixel is leveled from black to white like gray-level. The method is adjusted in order to decide whether the median operation can be appli...

Improved Adaptive Median Filter Algorithm for Removing Impulse Noise from Grayscale Images

Digital image is often degraded by many kinds of noise during the process of acquisition and transmission. To make subsequent processing more convenient, it is necessary to decrease the effect of noise. There are many kinds of noises in image, which mainly include salt and pepper noise and Gaussian noise. This paper focuses on median filters to remove the salt and pepper noise. After summarizin...

Accuracy and precision of measurements obtained from conventional cephalograms and CBCT scan in orthodontics linear diagnostic measurements

Background and Purpose:  Due to the important role of imaging in the diagnosis and treatment plan in orthodontics, CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) images because of their three-dimensional nature, can minimize the disadvantages of two-dimensional images such as magnification, distortion, or superimposition. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of conventional cephalograms...

Spectral Estimation of Printed Colors Using a Scanner, Conventional Color Filters and applying backpropagation Neural Network

Reconstruction the spectral data of color samples using conventional color devices such as a digital camera or scanner is always of interest. Nowadays, multispectral imaging has introduced a feasible method to estimate the spectral reflectance of the images utilizing more than three-channel imaging. The goal of this study is to spectrally characterize a color scanner using a set of conventional...
